What Weā€™ve Done Already Towards Net Zero
So far, weā€™ve embedded sustainability into our operations and are driving forward a number of other projects and Partnerships behind the scenes.
1
Increased local production
through substantial investment in UK facilities. As well as supporting local communities and creating jobs, this has a significant impact on our carbon footprint by massively reducing the travel distance of products.
2
Cut Waste in Our Core Local Manufacturing Process
Reduced the volume of material used in our core outer packaging. Recycled all core on-site materials.
3
Invested over Ā£10m
in research and development of new technologies. Reducing the amount of plastic and energy required to produce our products.

1
Switched to energy creating incineration
wherever possible and appropriate.
2
Invested in equipment to allow waste from our factories to be readily recycled
Working with Heriot Watt University on a KTP program to develop a recycling plant which will allow used face masks to be recycled.
3
Partnered with Spill Defence Manufacturing Ltd
to create an innovative sustainable solution for our PPE waste by recycling excess material from respirator production into absorbent cleaning materials.

ā€œLeading the way by Investing in
Innovative Production Processesā€

ā€œFor us, PPE also means Passionate
about Protecting our Environmentā€

Resilience and Sustainability

Since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have been producing one billion medical masks and 300 million FFP respirators per annum for healthcare and NHS Trusts across the UK.

As part of our strategy to manufacture 75% of our products in Europe, we accelerated our growth plan and commissioned three new factories in the UK, and we now have five factories across Europe providing resilient sustainable production.

The substantial increase in local production rather than South Asia manufacturing has had a significant, positive impact on our carbon footprint. The importance of control and resilience in local manufacturing means we have made good strides in driving efficiency and reducing waste. We are also driving in-country operational and supply sustainability, plus sourcing more raw materials locally.
